What is Diphtheria

Diphtheria is an acute infectious disease that affects young children. In this, there is an artificial membrane made of white fissile color in the throat, larynx and breathing tube, and also gets inflammation. A special condition arises in the throat pipe and the neoplastic juice glands swell. In this, ‘albuminuria‘, paralysis, pulse colic, Prabhriti agony appears.
The disease is endemic throughout the country. Today, when the incidence of this disease has reduced considerably in western countries, it has probably increased in India.

Cause of disease

Its causative bacterium is diphtheria vesilus known as Cornie vacterium diphtheri or Klebs vasilus (KLB). This Bacillus produces a powerful exotoxin, which has toxic effects on various organs of the body. This disease mostly occurs in children below 10 years of age. Adults can also occur especially during times of epidemic. This disease is more during winter. It spreads through point infection, through toy, pencil, spoon, towel etc.

Diphtheria Symptoms

The following symptoms of diphtheria disease occur.

  1. Throat Diphtheria- This is the most common type of diphtheria. It starts with a slow throat pain, mild fever (90–101 ° F) and body pain. The pulse speed is rapid in the ratio of fever. On examination, a light brown membrane appears over the tonsils, on the walls of the throat and on the soft palate. The membrane clings firmly to the surface and cannot be easily removed. On forcibly removing it, a naked hemorrhagic surface is seen.
  2. Nasal diphtheria- In this disease the membrane is formed in the posterior part of the nasal and can be seen from outside. A thick secretion comes out of the nose which is often stained with blood.
  3. Laryngeal diphtheria- This is the most severe form of diphtheria. In this, a membrane is formed above the vocal card. There is hoarseness and croupy cough. There is difficulty in breathing when there is obstruction of the larynx. The child picks up. Breathing for breath and suffering from cyanosis.
  • As an epidemic, the disease occurs in hostels, schools or slums. Diphtheria can occur to any of the men.

Disease detection

The disease is identified by identifying its specific membrane and examining the swab of the throat or nose with a simple microscope to identify the vasculus or by culture of bacteria.

Result of disease

Affects the heart, respiratory system and nervous system. Stopping blood flow leads to acute ‘cardiac failure’. Apart from this, the disease becomes paralysis, bronchitis, bronchonumonia, difficulty in breathing, etc.

Medical method

Seek medical help immediately. There is a special antigen poisoning drug for diphtheria. Lit it in another room, separate from the rest of the house. Treat according to the symptoms of infestation. Perform a ‘tracheostomy’ in respiratory obstruction. Give pain relief medicines for pain. Give the patient complete rest in bed. Do not give sleep or drugs.

Supportive and ancillary treatment

Put some salt in hot water and gargle it. Get it boiled with boiling water vapor. In a serious condition, give prednisolone. If the throat of the child is blocked and it starts turning blue, then wrap a clean cloth on your finger and clean the membrane from its neck.

Ayurvedic experience of taking diphtheria

For the treatment of this disease in Ayurveda, juice cinder 30 mg, iron ash 125 mg. And mix 125 mg Shankh Bhasma and take it twice a day with honey. If the child. If you experience some discomfort in food, then mix it with milk. Cardiac failure and peripheral heart disease are completely banned by taking the following combination with oral therapy (above) or with ‘diphtheria antitaxin’. Diphtheria does not have much effect on the heart and the post-nuisance is defended.
These are three such types of Hridaya Visvesar Ras 125 mg, Akiq Pishti 125 mg, Jawahar Mohra 250 mg, Vhat Kasturi Bhairav 125 mg. Make a dose of glucose 3 times a day.
If there is paralysis related vision loss in diphtheria, tonsils, power of throat muscles, etc., the use of the following yoga will help in quick strokes.
Rasraj 125 mg, Malla Chandrodaya 60 mg, Krishna Chaturmukh 60 mg, Pure Kupil 60 mg, Mayur Shikha Churna 1 gram. These are three units. Giving one quantity 3 times a day with honey for 10-15 days gives complete benefit.
The patient should be fully rested for at least 3 weeks in the postpartum period. After the cure, iron, protein, Abdec drops, Basantmalati, Sitopaladi and iron supplements should be given.

Modern medicine

As soon as there is a suspicion of diphtheria, the swab should be checked immediately, but should not wait for the report of the investigation. Anti-diphtheria serum (ADS) should be given immediately after checking for sensitivity test. Its quantity depends not on the age but on the severity of the disease. 20,000 units of diphtheria resistant serum (ADS) is usually given by muscle injection. ASD can be given up to 50,000-100,000 units in critical condition. In addition to ADS, ‘benzyl penicillin’ should be given at 200,000-500,000 units per 6 hours or ‘erythromycin’ 250 mg mouth every 6 hours. In case of a toxic condition or paralysis, it is necessary to give ‘corticosteride’.
The secretion inside the throat should be removed by swab or by the Saxon machine. Food should be given through the nose in case of pharynges or palpitations.
In case of laryngeal obstruction, an emergency therapy should be done by applying a laryngoscope to try to suction the membrane. But this is often not possible.
When the wheezing is increasing, it has become cyanotic, there is difficulty in breathing. In such a situation, the respiratory system perforation (tracheostomy) is required when the discomfort is increasing.

Preventive treatment

It is possible to prevent gulagontu / diphtheria. For this, triple antigen (from which diphtheria, kukkur cough and tetanus can also be avoided). ML (1 ml.) Should be given by muscle injection thrice a month. After one year, an incremental dose and a similar dose should be given before admission to school.
